Next 2 Conquests - "The Name of the Wind" and "A Cloud Over Water"
I have decided that my next 2 reading conquests will be "The Name of the Wind" By Patrick Rothfuss and "A Cloud Over Water" - the second book of my Allison Spedding series. Martine convinced me to read "The Name of the Wind" and the starting page is actually quiet good - I just have to get around to buying a copy as my library copy is overdue. It's going to be another mammoth effort to read "The Name of the Wind" anyhow as free time is short at hand until after I move in February.
Finished and Finished!
I finally finished both the books I have been trying to read. My holiday certainly, helped - not that I had much time to read even on holiday, but thankfully it was enough time. The first book I finished was "The Chaos Crystal". All I can say about that without spoiling it is - the ending was entirely -not- what I was expecting and without a doubt Good. Note the capital G. The second book I finally finished was "The Road and the Hills". You may remember me blogging that I had started reading this several months ago. It was put aside so I was able to read "The Chaos Crystal". I really love "The Road and the Hills". It's got strong characters, and a great plot. The end of book one was a little sad though - never the less I thoroughly enjoyed it. From my last post you may have already thought I had read this - alas I hadn't. As book one was my last aquisition, I had actually only read book 3 followed by book 2. Never the less, I almost always find book 3 in a trillogy the "dull" read (except in the case of JenFallon) so the fact the third book inspired me to hunt down books 1&2 say's quite alot to me atleast. If you have the inkling to try and hunt them down - good luck. The third one is by far the easiest to find, and both book 2&3 have a compressed version of what has gone before for the late to start the series reader.
Series: A Walk in the Dark by Allison Spedding
Book 1: The Road and the Hills,
Book 2: Cloud over Water,
Book 3: The Streets of the City.

Crazy Book
Ok so I was checking out the new books while on membership counter this morning as it was quiet and I found this book
What will they think of next!...
This is what it said on the catalogue... it seems quite informative and will probably be very popular...
What's your poo telling you
Richman, Josh.
Summary
With universal appeal (everyone poops, after all), this witty, illustrated description of over two dozen dookies (each with a medical explanation written by a doctor) details what one can learn about health and well-being by studying what's in the bowl. A floater? It's probably due to a buildup of gas. Now think back on last night's dinner, a burrito perhaps? . . .All the greatest hits are here: The Log Jam, The Glass Shard, The Deja Poo, The Hanging Chad . . . the list goes on. Sidebars, trivia, over 60 euphemisms for number 2, and unusual case histories all make this the ultimate bathroom reader. Who knew you could learn so much from your poo?

Shelfari
Yesterday while I was at work I did some Web 2.0 searching while I was on counter and it was a little bit quiet. I found this really cool online virtual bookshelf which I think is super cool. It allows you to create an online database of the books you own, the books you read and the books you want to read, as well as being able to see what other people have to say about other books... although I must say that it was kind of worrying for me to see that the "Book of Morman" was one of the most reviewed books of the day. I have customised shelfari's widget to add a bookshelf to my blog which is replacing books of note and will show what I am currently reading and even has navigation arrows if there is more then 1 book I am reading at a time! It also allows you to add friends - kind of like facebook, and you can look at eachothers bookshelves!

Hold of the Day
Last week I was at the Sunnybank and I found this book for a hold. To be honest the book was in pretty good condition apart from the cover art making it look like it was about 40 years old - actual publication 2002.
On the back it says "A Ring Press Dog book of Distinction"... funky
